Parents need to ...
Parents need to keep the lines of communication open with their kids. According to the Guttmacher Institute, children aged 13 to 24 made up 17 percent - nearly one fifth - of those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2008. It is critical that parents moniter those adults who want to help "mentor" your vulnerable child. And its good for kids to keep their antenna tuned as well.

Does Your Kid have the Makes of a Star Football Player?

Every year when the football season arrives, parents with kids eager to tryout this exciting sport start experiencing a generally common emotional status. The feelings intensify when they watch some key players in action or on hearing the enthusiastic cheers emanating from the grounds where a local football game is being played. Many parents visualize of a time when their offspring will be representing real big time football as a star player. Only a few realize that the key for this path lies in careful nurturing of talents with lots of patience and dedication instead of champing for an early burnt out.

So before you go about equipping your pre Kindergarten kid with all the latest football gear, make sure you understand the vital elements and traits of this wonderful sport which can be a great source of life improving lessons, personal advancement and building of healthy relationships for your child. The sport contains features that help lay a strong base for teamwork, ethics, character building and goal setting.

The physical fitness is another positive attribute seen in players arising as a result of continuous exercise and sustained energy. Each and every kid is not built to become a great football player. Don’t get carried away with illusions if your son does not possess the main characteristics that are elementary for proceeding in this sport. All kids love to have fun with this sport during pre junior term. Pressure builds up only when they arrive in junior high term when both parents and teachers start raising the stakes. Consider the following and find out for your self if your son has the makes of becoming a star football player one day.

Physical attributes
With maturity the demand on physical characteristics increases in football. The level of physical fitness varies even within each position of this game. Coaches pay a lot of consideration on a player’s pedigree and stature to ascertain their physical value. Attributes such as height, weight (present and past), fastness on foot and genetic history are all given equal consideration.

Kid’s own preferences
No matter how much you love this energetic sport and want your offspring to equally enjoy the spirit of sport, it squares down to your child’s individual desire. Take in to account facts such as does your kid want to take football as his preferred line of sport, would he enjoy it and why he likes it over others. These are simple questions for which answers can be easily sought if you have an open relationship with your kid.

Traits of competitiveness and hard work
As this is a sport that will test a player’s endurance on both physical and mental capacitates, it should be played by equally strong minded and able bodies players. The ability in facing and overcoming competition is vital for good sportsmanship. As parents you would be in a better position to understand your kind’s level of hard work and commitment in his activities.

You may not have the ideal answers for all these points. But this is just a starting point to get you thinking objectively and steer your child in the correct direction. Football is a game to be enjoyed and not endured by either player or viewer.
